Today was an epic U’K roam, the kind of thing that makes you very happy to log onto EVE on a Sunday. I’m not going into details as Ombey has a wonderful recounting of the day on his blog. Head over to Ombeve and read the post, http://ombeve.co.uk/blog/?p=787.

I’m just a player who blogs about the game, writing some fiction here and there and generally trying to have fun. The fact that some people like what I write is awesome.
So yeah, I have always considered myself on the “D list” as it were and that is fine by me. But, that all changed a few nights ago when I received a invitation from Nashh Kadavr to engage in a 1 v 1 battle to the death or more accurately, to the pod. I said, ’sure’.
We agreed where and when to meet. I made a trip with an alt to go shopping for a Rifter as T1 frigs were the order of the day. I took some old fittings I used to use and changed things a bit. Hmm…..small rigs….why not. They are not that expensive and the tanking possibilities with a aux nano pump, nanobot accelerator and a trimark looked interesting to say the least. 200mm Autocanon II’s of course and let’s use a rocket launcher instead of nos. Everything was cap stable as long as I would pulse the small armor rep.
I had my alt purchase everything and ferry it to a station in our agreed upon system. I would travel down there with my main the night before so I would be all ready come “high noon”.
In real life, I arrived home later than normal from work, bloody traffic from a cell phone induced crash again. Hang up and drive people!!
I get logged on, take care of the dog and convo Nashh. He’s online and ready to go. I get to a safe spot, he undocks and those damn invisible timers nail Nashh.
I hate that. You dock up with a GCC and when the GCC runs out, you are still flagged to the station sentries. Come on CCP, you fixed this bug once, “re-fix” it again for FFS. Piracy is hard enough without game breaking bugs.
Anyway, Nashh needed some time to replace his lost ship from that damn bug. I told him to take his time, gives me some time to play with our puppy as she needs lots of love and attention. The fact that she’s the cutest “Coconut fluff ball of fury” doesn’t help. No, she uses her powers for evil not good. Makes Daddy proud sometimes. <evil grin>
Nashh comes out and say ‘feck it’ and he warps to me since I am in a safe. He drops out of warp and locks me up, I return the favor and open fire. No need for can theft here, it’s two warriors on the field. We need not those little things.
I close the distance between us quickly as his missiles slam into my shields. I close in and set my orbit, guns and rockets blazing. As his shields drop, bits of rust are flying off my rifter. Time to tank. I pulsed my armor rep and watch those small armor rigs do their thing and they did them well. We continued our dance among the stars until his “Kessy of Doom” fell to the rusty glory that is the Rifter.

It was a good fight to say the least and being back in a T1 frigate is always fun. I scooped his loot from his wreck to give back to him and we docked in the same station.
It was a rough night for Nashh loosing two ships. He was being a good sport and I felt a bit bad for him. So, I decided to give him the rifter but under one condition, he train to use the ship and we have a rematch some time in the future. Equal skills, ships and fittings would make a good match. The only factor would be pilot skill and honestly, I think that would be a better measure of Nashh’s abilities, he is a skilled pilot.
So ends Celebrity Death Match 15. Nashh, you are a good sport mate, keep it up and everyone, keep reading his recounts of the CDM on his blog, they are a good read.

I have been roaming around this evening, having fun. Had a nice 1 on 1 with a gentleman named Tarrix. He put up a good fight but fell to The Bleeding Rose in fine fashion. /emote tips hat, he was good about the fight.
So, I am roaming about, popping npc rats as I need to shoot things. Pirating urges do cause twitching. I land in a belt in Sobaseki and I see a guy mining. No big deal…..but….overview says it’s a Caracal.
A few moments later, after I regain my consciousness, I get back into my chair and look again. Yup, mining in a Caracal.
But….it’s a Caracal….you don’t mine in them. An Osprey gets a mining bonus, why mine in a Caracal?
It’s a frakking Caracal. No, this is wrong. This is very, very wrong. So, I call out in local that there is a Caracal mining in IX belt 1. I need someone else to look. My eyes must be tired, this simply can not be.
A few moments later, 3 drakes and a brutix show up. Local chat discusses this horrific display of Caldari cruiser mining gone awry.
This is simply wrong. Something must be askew with the universe.
THERE MUST BE JUSTICE!!!
So, I tell everyone in local that I will be right back. I check the market and find an Armageddon for sale 2 jumps over in another system. I buy it and head out to pick it up. On the way, I buy 8 Large Smartbombs.
Yes, Suicide Gank time, this fucker is going to die.
Now, many people have commented to me on fixing my security status. Many have asked what would it take to push me back over to the ‘Dark Side’ as cookies are simply not enough.
Mining in a Caracal. Yup, that would do it.
I get all fitted out and head back to Sobaseki. I land in the belt, he’s there, mining away. I make a bookmark, warp out and warp back in.
FOR GREAT JUSTICE!!!!
The bombs go off…..1 volley…..2 volleys…..3 volleys….4 volleys. BOOM!!!! and then another BOOM!!! Concord has arrived, but alas it is too late.
Lag aside, it was a beautiful set of explosions. Justice has been restored, healing can begin and all will be right with the universe once more.
NO MINING CARACALS!!!!
So, I again need to do some security status repair, but it was worth it. See you out there!!!!

Well, I’ve been out of Neo Spartans for a month now. I’ve been traveling all over the place and I have seen and learned many things.
One thing I have really learned is that I again suck at solo PvP. I do. I spent most of my time in Neo Spartans in a gang setting. Seems that having spent so much time in RR fleets or in other types of gangs, I simply do not have the solo skills I once had. Don’t get me wrong, I have kills, but they have been against weaker pilots. I have had quite a few fights and either my opponent has managed to escape or they had help.
Please don’t misunderstand, I am not claiming that anyone has dishonored a 1 v 1, that is not the case. Getting someone to agree to a 1 v 1 is a rarity as everyone thinks that they have backup coming and for good reason, many people do have backup. EVE is a numbers game and that’s the way it’s supposed to be. Everyone will always bring the tools they need to achieve their objective. That’s the point, to work together and get stuff done.
Now, that’s not to say that I won’t get better, I will. It will take some time to grow those solo PvP skills again. No worries, there looks to be plenty of rifters on the market and I like flying them.
I’ve been able to visit a lot of the sights in the game that are in high sec with my newly recovered security status. I was also able to engage in the high sec contract that a friend wanted me to do. I war decced a 25 man corp with the intention of getting them to move out of the Tash Mukron region. That was the main objective of the contract. Needless to say, 25 hours after the war dec was made, they all fled their corp, disbanded the corp and headed for Lonetrek. I never got to shoot at them. Oh well, very little work and a cool 500 million isk for 3 days work. I guess I will have plenty of isk for all those rifters I will be loosing very soon.
So, what are my plans for the future? Well, over the next few months, me and the missus are moving out of our condo and into a house. We have this desire to get our family started and we simply do not have the room. So as we get closer to September 1st, I will be on less and less as we pack everything up and move. After the 1st, I may not be able to get online to play with the good internet connection at home until sometime around mid September. I will of course be able to get online with the wireless internet I have on my laptop, to change skills and what not, but full blown game play will have to wait a while.
Once I am able to get into full blown game play again, I will be looking to join a low sec and/or 0.0 roaming corp. I am not interested in POS warfare nor major capital battles. I want to find a corp that is dedicated to roaming, such as The Tuskers or another group of fun crazy pirates.
So, until that is sorted out, see you out there!!!

While I was listening to the Podded podcast (http://podded.libsyn.com) this morning, I learned about a rather interesting website being put on by Bin Juice, the EVE Stealth Project (http://www.hacksplat.com/main.html).
For those of you who listen to the Podded podcast, you will know that the phrase “Stealth Bomber” is often said with lots of love. Bin Juice has created a website to chronocile his life as a Stealth Bomber pilot, from initial training to the engagements he will encounter. It should be an interesting read and I looking forward to reading about his adventures.
Why am I mentioning this? Well, the website is very well done and unfortunately for me, he does not have an RSS feed setup. It’s a great site and I would hate for the EVE community to not be able to follow this project of Bin Juice’s, so, I am putting in a shameless plug for him.
So head on over to the EVE Stealth Project (http://www.hacksplat.com/main.html) and enjoy!!!
UPDATE 8-6-2009, He now has an active RSS feed for his site and it’s been added to the OPML download!!!
