In real life, you only die once, and this changes the weight of the risks. Also, in real life, Police CAN kill murderer’s even more readily than someone without a criminal history, if they acting to protect from death or grievous bodily injury. I don’t think it’s an exploit. I think it wasn’t considered by CCP. Making T2 insurance payouts better will completely change PVP, and not in a good way, IMO. I also believe that you’re undervaluing the weight of the “fun” factor of the pro’s. Many of these people play to blow things up. Other people’s things. You can’t say that losing(just one “o” Ga’len, I’m sorry, but it had to be said, I still love your website) an insured T1 ship comes close to a real loss compared to taking out T2’s. If I could change anything, it would be to make the Orca pilot take a security hit for being an accessory, though there is no easy way to track that.
I had a thought a few weeks ago about a cool way to get ships insured and at the same time, create another game mechanic that makes being in a player corp more enticing and this recent comment as well as discussions with my corp mates last night about various issues has inspired me to share the idea with all of you.

Back in October, when we all learned about the Orca, I thought to muself, “Self, this will make a great pirate logistics ship”, see my blog entry (http://www.eve-druid.com/2008/10/27/the-orca-how-will-pirates-use-it).

Other than the obvious target for piracy and ransoms, how will pirate use the Orca? Well, there are many thoughts on this on the EVE forums.
One thought that I see happening is a simple logistics platform.
Many pirates have a hauler alt capable of moving packaged ships and other materials that they need to maintain their needs. Some pirates actually have a freighter alt. CCP has given this thing a 400K m3 ship maintenance bay and the ability to use stargates. That being said, why not use this new ship as a poor man’s carrier.
It can move rigged ships, everything smaller than a battleship. This can be useful, especially to a smaller pirate corp that does not have access to a carrier. They will be able to move those rigged ships through high-sec to where they are needed. Granted, there is no jump drive on this baby, but having some logistical support is better than none at all.
I am looking forward to this ship becoming available. It will definately be a welcome addition to our logistical backbone.

…Man, CCP has been putting a lot of information out lately.
Dev Blog on Weapon Grouping: http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=596
Weapon Grouping is something that people have been asking for as long as I can remember. In a nutshell, you will be able to stack turrets or launchers into a group to make manual reloading and/or changing ammo types faster. No longer will you have to right click on each weapon and change the ammo type one weapon at a time. You will simply be able to stack the weapons, then simply right click on 1 module icon and change the ammo type. You will also be able to select that one module icon to activate all the weapons in the stack.
Alliance Logo Submissions: http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=585
The long awaited changes to the Alliance logos has finally come to fruition. I strongly suggest you read this post and get started on making your logo. It’s not a huge dev blog, but it’s a huge thing that everyone has been waiting for.
The Orca: http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=597
Again, another long awaited item, the Industrial Command Ship, the Orca. It looks cool, has some very nice status and will making mining operations even more effective. It provides a large carp bay, a corp hanger and a ship maintenance array within the ship itself. Can you say mobile POS? These things can be built in Empire Space. As to whether or not his has jump capabilities, that is not listed in the dev blog. It’s being called a sub-capital logistics ship. Will this be able to use a stargate or will it have to use a jump drive. We should learn this soon.
