So, what’s the stuff from this week?:

• There is a lot of news concerning the fall of the D-GTMI system pretty much all over the place. The EVE Forums, the EVE Blogging Community, Kugutsumen as well as many other places. There are even a few YouTube videos from the battle in D-GTMI. In a nutshell, Paxton Federation held the system for over three years and when it came time to defend it from -A-, they lost the fight. Many reasons were cited from server lag (which was very bad although the node the NOT crash) to poor FC work to inexperienced combatants on the field. As to what the future holds for D-GTMI and PXF, that remains to be seen. It should however, be interesting to watch unfold.
• Against All Authorities offered an olive branch to CVA after CVA’s failure to invade Catch as well as their loss of the D-GTMI system. CVA continued to be the arrogant aggressor and as a result -A- and it’s allies continue their response with an invasion of 9UY4-H. As of the writing of this blog post, 9UY4-H is under siege. There are both EVE forum posts and a few blogs posts on this battle so far and as always, I am more than willing to share what I find, enjoy!
• Nullsec space drama continues to unfold. On Wednesday, Goonswarm disbanded. Many say this was only the natural course as a problem with maintaining isk in the correct divisions of the executer corp’s wallet led to the loss of key systems in Delve. After listening to the recorded meeting that Goonswarm held and their internal declaration that they were moving back to Syndicate, I initially though this was part of their plan. In that meeting, you clearly hear that the main speaker called the current sov mechaincs (in beta). They seemed to make sense that they would pull out of 0.0 altogether, until you read the post from kartton, the alliance director responsible for the sov loss in the first place. His post titled ‘Dear Goonfleet’ pretty much sums up the Goonswarm mindset of “Frak it all” as he simply took what isk was left and ran. In EVE online, you “adapt or die“. Goonswarm had to adapt to the new sov mechanics as well as the changes to the Titan Doomsday weapon from being an area of effect, grid clearing weapon to a single target weapon. They simply could no longer win fights with large fleets holding people on a grid and using a Titan to ‘clear the board’. Adapt or die, they simply could not do this. Their attitude that the’ sov mechanics are in beta’ reflects this inability to change and thus the infighting must have grown within alliance leadership. Cal over at the Wild at Heart blog has a great post on what happened. As more information becomes available, you can catch the updates at yet another of my Google shared items,Goonsfall.
• Casiella over at Ecliptic Rift has started a Tumblr blog. So, being the social creatrue that I am, I caved to peer pressure and created one as well, http://eve-druid.tumblr.com. I plan to use my Tumblr blog in the same fashion as Casiella, to post things that don’t make it into my blog here or things that I can’t easily share with Google Reader.
• Akura kawanaka of Eve Monkey announced that Fan Fiction Blogfest #2 is underway. You can read all the posts in yes, yet another Google shared item (Google should send more advertising dollars my way for all the props they get from me!)
• One of my favorite sites, EVE Travel, moved to a new home this week. Head over to http://evetravel.wordpress.com and see why it’s a great site. Mark726 fly around New Eden and bring you photos of all the landmarks in game. It will take him a while, but it’s worth following the journey. The “Wanderer” in me just keeps bringing me back to the site.
• CCP announced that they have learned a lot from their testing for the lag in fleet battles. Be sure to read the ENTIRE dev blog as there are some very useful tips on how to deal with these lag situations. It’s a good read and should be something you stop right now and do. I especially liked this part of the dev blog in reference to the final battle in D-GTMI: “On Jan 28^th, we had a 1600 person fleet fight on Tranquility which our team monitored closely, keeping the node alive using methods that make our system admins faint. This was one of the biggest, if not the biggest, fleet fight ever in EVE (at least where the node survived the ordeal). This event allowed us to identify what was causing some of these glitches and deploy fixes live.” So, they finally listened to us, went to a system where the fleet fight request system was used for node reinforcement and actually monitored a live fleet fight 0n the production server. LO AND BEHOLD, THEY WERE ABLE TO IDENTIFY SOMETHING TO HELP THEM RESOLVE THIS ISSUE! Ahem…Well, finally they are listening to the stakeholders and we are again able to work together. Better late than never, thank you CCP. I for one am more than willing to continue to help resolve these issues, let’s keep that collaboration going!
• Manasi over at A Mule in EVE wrote a response to the CCP dev blog on lag and very accurately voiced a valid issue about some of the survival tips for fleet lag.  He feels that the concept of clicking a module to activate it once and wait 8 minutes for the time out is unreasonable.  I happen to agree with him.  Read the whole post and participate in the discussion.
• As always, update work for the blogs listed on The EVE Online Portal and the OPML download continues. I am continually amazed at the number of blogs that we have listed.

One thing I have really learned is that I again suck at solo PvP.  I do. I spent most of my time in Neo Spartans in a gang setting.  Seems that having spent so much time in RR fleets or in other types of gangs, I simply do not have the solo skills I once had.  Don’t get me wrong, I have kills, but they have been against weaker pilots.  I have had quite a few fights and either my opponent has managed to escape or they had help.

Please don’t misunderstand, I am not claiming that anyone has dishonored a 1 v 1, that is not the case.  Getting someone to agree to a 1 v 1 is a rarity as everyone thinks that they have backup coming and for good reason, many people do have backup.  EVE is a numbers game and that’s the way it’s supposed to be.  Everyone will always bring the tools they need to achieve their objective.  That’s the point, to work together and get stuff done.

Now, that’s not to say that I won’t get better, I will.  It will take some time to grow those solo PvP skills again.  No worries, there looks to be plenty of rifters on the market and I like flying them.

I’ve been able to visit a lot of the sights in the game that are in high sec with my newly recovered security status.  I was also able to engage in the high sec contract that a friend wanted me to do.  I war decced a 25 man corp with the intention of getting them to move out of the Tash Mukron region.  That was the main objective of the contract.  Needless to say, 25 hours after the war dec was made, they all fled their corp, disbanded the corp and headed for Lonetrek.  I never got to shoot at them.  Oh well, very little work and a cool 500 million isk for 3 days work.  I guess I will have plenty of isk for all those rifters I will be loosing very soon.

So, what are my plans for the future?  Well, over the next few months, me and the missus are moving out of our condo and into a house.  We have this desire to get our family started and we simply do not have the room.  So as we get closer to September 1st, I will be on less and less as we pack everything up and move.  After the 1st, I may not be able to get online to play with the good internet connection at home until sometime around mid September.  I will of course be able to get online with the wireless internet I have on my laptop, to change skills and what not, but full blown game play will have to wait a while.

Once I am able to get into full blown game play again, I will be looking to join a low sec and/or 0.0 roaming corp.  I am not interested in POS warfare nor major capital battles.  I want to find a corp that is dedicated to roaming, such as The Tuskers or another group of fun crazy pirates.

Cerah he was dreaming of Tanitel again.  Tanitel, the loyal ‘Minnie footman’, she thought as she dreamed.

It was over twenty years ago when she met Tan.  Cerah was learning, at the protest of her parents, all she could about the Minmatar people.  Tan was her guide in this journey into the forbidden knowledge of the slaves.  Nonetheless, Cerah pursued all she could learn and in turn, pursued her guide.  He was a strong man, proud with tradition and yet he treated her as if she was as close as kin.  Over time, Tan and Cerah did fell in love.  Such things happen when people spend time with one another.  In Amarrian, society ‘love relations’ do occur between the Amarr and their slaves, but it is not usually a mutual love, more of lustful abuse of the slaves.

Cerah and Tanitel had a different love.  A true love, one that you read about in the books of old.  Such ‘equal love’ had to be kept secret.  It had to remain hidden from the Amarrian world.  To allow their love to become known would have meant death for the both of them.

Painful it was, honoring the wishes of her parents to marry Galen Grendalis the IV.  She had no choice.  An arranged marriage on their world was not something that one could simply walk away from or at least, walk away alive.  The Grendalis family was one of the most powerful on Oris.  Her parents would have thought it an honor to marry into that family.  It was her curse to be wed to such a man.  His cruelty towards the Minmatar was well known.  He was the slayer of slaves.

Through everything, Tan was still there and alive.  He had been picked as her loyal footman, to tend to her needs when she was venturing beyond the grounds of the manor.  Some thought it odd that an Amarrian woman would have such a trusted slave, but it was not unheard of in the Empire.  To allow such an Amarrian Lady to fall into harms way would result in the destruction of many Minmatar villages.  It was point of honor to protect those women, yet another stone of oppression to hold over the collective heads of the Minmatar people.

Slowly, she opened her eyes.  It was dark again; night had fallen as she slept through the day.  She felt weak, drained.  The news that her son Galen would face the whip in the morning brought tears to her eyes again.  Softly she sobbed as she lay in her bed.

A quiet whisper sneaked out from the darkness, “Do not be sad my love.  All is not lost.”  Tanitel’s words floated through the night and settled upon Cerah’s troubled mind like the warm rays of the springtime sun.

“Tan, oh my Tan.  You have snuck in here again.  I have missed you these past few months.”  Cerah’s voice was weak and filled with pain.

“My love, I have a wonderful gift for you, “Tanitel spoke softly as he placed the data pad into her cold hand, “Look at your son…and our daughter.”

Cerah’s eye opened widely.  She stared at Tanitel and with tears filling her blue eyes, “Daughter?  I can not know anything of her, if Galen was to learn what I knew, she would be in danger.”

Tanitel smiled and helped Cerah to sit upright.  As he put his arm around her, he took the data pad and held it so they could both see the picture.

“Cerah, the Five will leave the Eight, you remember those words, don’t you?”  Tanitel whispered gently, “Galen Grendalis the Fifth and his sister Leainati have left Oris.  So look at your family my love, they are free.”

Cerah looked at the picture, “Oh, she is so beautiful.  Galen and Leainati, they are gone?  They have left?”

“Yes my love,” continued Tanitel, “Leainati rescued Ga’len from the chapel and they took a shuttle off planet.  Soon they will be too far for danger to reach them.”

“Ga’len?” asked Cerah, “you called him Ga’len, why?”

“It is the name Seenan has given him.  His new life needed a new name and he seemed to like it,” Tanitel held Cerah closer.

Cerah smiled and closed her eyes, “They are free.  Free to live their lives.  At last…”

Her breathing grew shallow and her embrace grew weaker.  Slowly she drifted away into sleep in Tanitel’s arms.  Slower and slower, he weak breath escaped her lips until it was quiet.

The room seemed to grow darker as Tanitel realized that he was alone.  The Five had left the Eight and so had Cerah’s life too slipped away this night.

Tanitel lightly kissed her on the lips, “Sleep my love, and be free.  It has been too long.  Your wishes will be honored.”

Dawn came to Oris quietly.  The sun slowly crept up across the horizon, spreading its light over the mountains, down into the valley and across the fields.  The Minmatar slaves had already been working for hours in the dark and they were about to begin their morning meal break, but this morning would be different.

Galen Grendalis the Fourth had called an assembly at the chapel.  Here within the chapel and on view screens all over the installation, everyone would watch the wrath of Galen befall those who would attack and kill Amarrian guards.  They would all witness yet another beating but this time, it was another Amarr citizen, his son.  All was going according to plan, Galen Grendalis was much too happy with himself.  Soon he would show all those who had been disobedient that he was their ruler and his power was uncontestable.

The knock on the door shattered the serenity of his morning meal.  “WHY DO YOU DISTURB ME?!?!?  ENTER!”,  Galen shouted.

The door slowly opened and the standing in full armor was Nathorn, the head of the house guard.  He was a large man, broad shoulders.  His face was clean; his hair was always perfectly presentable.  He always stood tall and possessed an arrogant and commanding presence, but this morning, he stood in a half-bent over cower.  It was clear that he was very unsettled, something was very wrong on this morning.

“Milord, I am most sorry to bring you this sad news.”  Nathorn’s voice was trembling with fear.  The news must be severe for this man to be filled with fear.

“WELL, OUT WITH IT YOU FOOL!”  Galen grew impatient.  He hated to be disturbed in the morning.

Nathorn continued, “The doctor visited upon your wife, the Lady Cerah this morning and has discovered that she has passed.  I am so sorry milord; please accept the condolences of myself, my family, and the house guard.”

Galen Grendalis sat there in his chair.  He paused his chewing for a moment and looked up at Nathorn.  “This is why you have disturbed me?  To tell me that ungrateful bitch, that rotting corpse in my bed has finally succumbed to her laziness?  Tell me, “Galen’s voice was filled with contempt, “why I should not have you killed?  Sad news?  This is good news.  She is finally dead, good riddance!”

Nathorn remained motionless and stuck in is half-cowering stance.  “There is more milord,” his voice was very broken, and he was shaking in fear, “It would seem that your son has escaped from the chapel during the night.”

“WHAT!?!?!?!?!  WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE HAS ESCAPED!”, Galen flew up out of his chair and ran across the room.  He drew his knife that he always kept on his belt and slashed out at Nathorn’s throat.   The blade clanged against the neck armor and then fell to the floor.

“NATHORN, YOU WILL FIND MY SON AND BRING HIM TO THE CHAPEL NOW!  YOU HAVE TEN MINUTES AND IF YOU DO NOT BRING HIM, I WILL MAKE SURE I GET THROUGH YOUR ARMOR NEXT TIME!”, Galen’s voice was filled with rage enough to push Nathorn out of the room.

Nathorn called out, “GUARDS!  GUARDS!  FIND GALEN GRENDALIS THE FIFTH IMMEDIATLY!”

Galen stormed out of the room, stopping only to pick up his knife.  As he exited the doorway, the slashed out with his knife and killed the first man he saw.  The servant who was moving the body of Cerah Grendalis found his throat cut wide open, he fell to the ground with a gurgling choke, and blood sprayed everywhere.

The cleric escorting the body spoke, “Milord!  Please stop!  We understand you may be distraught with the passing of you wife, but…,” the servant’s voice was stopped short and the blade slashed out again, cutting his shoulder deeply.  He ran away down the hall, screaming in pain.

Galen Grendalis the ‘slayer of slaves’ was on a rampage and anyone who fell into his path would die.  The manor was going to become a bloody place again.

Hidden in the shadows in the hallway, Tanitel observed the carnage.

“How fortunate, his rage has helped me for once,” Tanitel thought, “With that dammed cleric gone tending his wounded shoulder and unfortunately the servant dead, Cerah has been left alone.  My love, as I promised, your wishes will be honored.”

Tanitel moved quickly, picked up Cerah in his arms, and ran down the east hall, ducked around the corner and headed into the secret passage he had come to depend on.  In another moment, he was out of the manor and safely heading into the woods.

Deeper into the woods, Tanitel tried to make his way as quietly as he could.  He would soon be missed the morning meal.  He had managed to elude being seen and unbeknownst him, missed as the first shift began its work in the fields.

Deeper and deeper Tanitel traveled, towards the old ruins.

It would be here, as Cerah had told him long ago, that he would build the pyre.  It would be here that Cerah Grendalis would finally see her freedom from this life.

“Soon my love, soon you will be free among the starts,” Tanitel’s thoughts drifted from Cerah’s last wish and their daughter, “This is so cruel Leainati.  You barely knew your mother and now she is gone.”

Further and further into the forest Tanitel silently moved.  Soon, soon it will all be over.

Seenan was gathered with many workers from the first shift.  She was standing in front of on of the man view screens that normally showed the current production numbers, which teams were behind and news bursts that usually showed her fellow slaves being beaten for simply not working as hard as their masters demanded.

This morning, there was supposed to be a special viewing of a disciplinary action in the chapel.  She chuckled quietly to herself, as she knew well; the poor soul that was bound in the chapel was now light-years away from Oris.

A low murmur began to spread through the crowd.  The guards were all talking into their communications gear; there were panicked looks on their faces.

“Something is not right…or was it?” Seenan thought to herself, “Lord Grendalis must be in a rage over  Ga’len’s escape.  That must be it.”

The guards began moving people into formation for a count.  They all seemed very frantic, their eyes filled with fear.  This Seenan expected however, one of the guards looked as if he had been crying.  He was so distraught that he dropped his weapon.

Seenan immediately fell to her knees and cowered away from the guard.  No slave was to ever stand if a guard was not armed.  The guard quickly picked up his weapon and spoke with a shaky voice, “On your feet, form up.”

“Yes sir…if I may speak?”  Seenan spoke boldly, “normally we do not care much for you guards, but something is bothering, is it not?”

The guard’s eyes narrowed and he looked as if he was about to strike Seenan, but he stopped himself and spoke, “No, this I will not do, not today,” his voice was filled with grief, “Yes, something is wrong.  Your Lady Grendalis has passed into the next life.  She died in her sleep last night and you will…”

Before the guard could finish her sentence, he saw that Seenan’s eyes were filling with tears.  She fell to her knees and sobbed softly.  Her ankle still ached with pain.  She put a hand on her ankle to try to hold back the pain.

As she looked up at the guard, she spoke warmly, “Dear sir, I can see that you morn her.  Know that you are not alone in your grief.  The Lady Grendalis was always kind to me and mine.  Her light will be missed in all our lives, “Seenan continued, “You honor her on this day by not striking me, by not showing me the violence that she hated with her entire being.  I shall honor your kindness by my submission.  Do with me as you will.”

The guard was taken aback by this display.  How could a lowly slave touch his heart?  His eyes began to fill with tears.  He hid his face with his hand and shouted, “You two there, help this woman, her leg is injured.  Take her to the infirmary at once.  Lord Grendalis will want all his slaves to be able to work double hard after this delay today.”

The guard, after wiping his face clean, looks at Seenan through mournful eyes and mouthed two words, Thank you.

When Seenan arrived at the infirmary, her ankle had begun to stop its protest of pain.  Regardless, she administered a pain reliever and put on a brace.  She had to hurry; Tanitel would be making his way to the old ruins.  There was much work to do.

She returned to her barracks and gather what she would need, including the urn she had kept hidden for Tanitel.

“Seenan, is it true?  Has Lady Cerah died?” asked one of the infirmary’s attendants.

“Yes, her light has left us my friend.  Pass the word, at dusk we meet at the old ruins deep in the forest,” Seenan’s eyes began to fill with tears again, “Tonight we honor her memory.”

I have been busy as a beaver with writing projects, enjoying summer movies, recovering from vacation and of course, playing EVE.

For those of you who have followed the ongoing conflict between The United and The Neo Spartans I will say that the fight goes on.  For the latest stats, you can view the stats on the campaign, Ding Ding! Round 2! I missed a good portion of the combat as I was on vacation, but I had a chance to engage a volley or two.

Yes, there is a new look here.  I went over to Podlogs (http://podlogs.com) and downloaded the ‘Angry Amarr’  theme (http://podlogs.com/themes/?preview_theme=Angry%20Amarr).  It’s a nice theme and I like how it looks.

OPML update, I have an update post going live this Friday listing the recent additions.  If you have not already done so, please send me your requests to be added to the OPML no later than downtime on this coming Thursday.  Hopefully I will receive enough responses so that I don’t have to update the post multiple time after it’s gone live.

Speaking of new blogs, I have a few words on the concerns the blogging community have expressed.  As with all things, the more you have is not always better.  Our community recently hit a major milestone with a record number of 535 blogs.  This is a major achievement, however, with all things in nature, there is a balance between the positive and negative.

With the larger number of blogs comes increased administration on the part of myself and Crazy Kinux with regards to the OPML and the EVE Blogroll.  It is a bittersweet thing since both of use love to read the diverse postings of our community.

With all this growth, we must admit that there will be some ‘dead loss’.  CCP and GameScribe had a major promotion going on to get people to blog about the community.  Many blogs were created in that push and to be honest, I see some of those blogs simply dieing out as the promotion ends.  Rest assured, the EVE Blogroll and the OPML download will be revised to reflect those inactive AND inaccessible blogs.

The OPML download has always had blogs listed that were no longer active for the sole purpose of providing a ‘historical’ listing of those who had contributed to the EVE Blogging Community.  So please do not be concerned if the OPML download count of blogs varies from CrazyKinux’s EVE Blogroll.  Many of these older inactive blogs had a lot of good content that any new blogger and member of the EVE Online gaming community may find benefit.

What brought me here:
My love for science fiction has been something inspired in me since I first Star Wars at the theatre as a kid. I loved the richness of the mythology, the vastness of the universe; the true sense of wonder. So naturally, I played Star Wars Galaxies the day it came out. Played dedicated for five years. The last two years though, I noticed the game was continually being dumbed down. I hate dumbed down. I enjoy depth. Someone mentioned EVE Online to me, and well, been here ever since. Even gave up Star Wars for it, my childhood love.

Playstyle:
I am a Fleet Commander for the Tribal Liberation Force, as well as recently promoted to Fleet Commander in my corp, Freeform Industries. I do missions every now and then, but my real passion is the market. Both my alts are out of the box traders, and I really enjoy the cutthroat nature of doing business.  I’ve never mined, never even opened research or industry, and have never managed a corp. One step at a time.

What keeps me playing:
Ironically, there are two things. The first is that you don’t need to be here 23/7 for fear of missing out on some huge event. That flexibility combined with real time skill training (as opposed to mindless grinding) makes it great for me. During the week, I’m a casual player, and that’s just fine. The second reason I’ve already mentioned indirectly. Depth. Vastness. Mythology. EVE Online is so comprehensive that I am STILL catching up on my reading, just to absorb myself deeper into this universe we call home.

What I write:
My personal blog is all in character (with occasional exception). My approach to writing is a little different than most I am told. I tend to merge real life happenings with ingame happenings, with a bit of complete fantasy mixed in to throw you off. So far, it’s been fun. I am also a columnist over at http://www.eve-mag.com and hope to also get an article or two into EON Magazine. That would be something.

Other Interests:
I am also a co-developer for Capsuleer, the definitive iPhone application for EVE Online. I enjoy making 3D wallpapers as well, and have contributed some to the EVE Online galleries.

What you should know about EVE:
It’s intimidating when you start; overwhelming actually. It’s like learning a new Operating System and learning how to live in a completely new universe all at the same time. But stick with it, seriously. The rewards are worth it.

Well, it’s finally happened.  There is an open war in the pocket.  A number of us formed up in a fleet and engaged a group of lame pirates known as The Final Stand.

An intense battle ensued and there were losses on both sides, but ultimately we won, 16 kills, 17 losses, however, they lost more in isk value in modules and in ship values.  Some would say it is a draw, byt 880 mil isk lost to 580 mil on our side, makes it a close engagement, but a win for us.

Now, you may ask, why do I call them lame?  Well, how many pirate corps do you know LOCK their killboard on the night they take a beating from every kid on the block?  Not many, but apparently their’s is locked, take a look, http://eve.thefinalstand.com/?a=home.

So, you can’t see what they have done, both good nor bad.  No worries, you can learn all about the battle and the fights to come here.  It was great fun!!!

Yeah, I should have known better. It’s all my fault, I was too trusting. I should have known better. You loose ships, it’s part of the game. Yet, I morn this ship as she has won many a battle for me. Rest in Peace, the “Pulse” is no more. You shall be avenged, the war continues.

Afterwards, we began to chat. He?s a good guy and I have to tip my hat to him for both his skills in combat and his skills in diplomacy. I won?t post the chat here, he asked me not to. He made a counter offer, well, agreed that one I suggested was fair. We talked and talked and in the end, this is where things are:

• His corp has lost a lot more than 50 million isk.
• Rabbit is a friend of the CEO and he won?t be ejected from the corp, even for just a day.
• Rabbit is pissing off people in other corps and more war decs are coming.
• Fireborn, even with his smack talking emails, has potential to be a good CEO.

So, I came up with another offer tha Sama thought was worth trying. They have until Monday to accept and comply with the terms of the offer. Below is a copy of the email I sent to Fireborn.

Sama?s diplomatic efforts

Well, I know that you have a mandate for your corp members to not speak with me and please do not be angry with Sama, he only wants what is best for your corp.

After agreeing to a 1 on 1, where if he won the war would be over, he didn?t win, but it was close, we began chatting. As we talked, he made a nice counter offer, or more accurately, I made a suggestion and he agreed that it was fair.

10 million isk and an apology from Rabbit in email and on my blog.

As we continued to chat, he impressed me a lot. He is an asset to your corp and you should really listen to him. He will help your corp grow strong and successful.

So, the new terms, because of Sama?s efforts:

A written apology from Rabbit in email and on my blog

We are in a cease fire until Monday. If you agree to the new terms and I see the apology from Rabbit before Monday, I will end the war.

It?s up to you.

We will have to see what Fireborn does and if Rabbit complies with the terms. We will also see if the corp members respect the cease fire. They didn?t before, but because of Sama willing to talk, I am willing to give them another chance.

UPDATE

Fireborn convoed me, he says that Rabbit will not apologize and as a result, is being kicked from the corp. Rabbit is out of their corp, they kept their end of the deal. I have kept mine. The war is over.

Carls Berg found out that Siyi is not that far from my reach, He lost both his Catalyst and his pod.

Rabbit Serbia was surprised by my appearance in Suroken. He locked me and fired, I returned the favor again and pop went his Kestrel. He logged as the fight started so his pod would auto warp away.

Sesshomaru Sama fled to Nereut and remains docked at the VIII Moon 2 station. He was supposed to “Sama will get you down if you come to him or any of our corpmates closer than 20km or near our HQ”. He as not been around at all, so much for that threat.

Alas, Fireborn still remains docked in his station in Youl while his corp mates are picked off one by one. Most of them have taken to not log on at all, except for a few minutes at a time. Probably changing skills and hopeful that the war is over.

I tell you, when I log on, I am begining to enjoy the emails Fireborn send me, like this one, which he must have sent everyone in his corp.

It is clear that he is laying all the time and that his ego is bigger than this station. We can not accept his terms becuse we dont have 50mil, and I think we all agree that we wont give him chanse to earn on easy way 100 or 50mil again llike he did it in his last few wars when he was attacking small corps. We can all lose our ships, but we will not lose our ISK and SP, so be cool, he is just loosing his timewith us.

Fire

So, loosing ships, pods, implants and modules does not mean that they loose isk? Why is it that so many CEO’s can’t do math. If you loose a ship, you have to replace it. The insurance payout may cover the lost ship, but you have to replace your modules. You have to pay insurance again as well. When you loose a pod, you have to pay for the clone again. All of these are losses.

I continue to make money from looted modules, another 6 million isk. That with what I have already looted from them which is more than enough to keep the war going.

So, 29.8 million isk in destroyed ships and modules, at least another 2 million in clone costs, another 14 million isk in replacement modules for the new ships as well as, let’s just say 5 million in implants comes to a grand total loss for his corp of 50.8 million isk.

Yet, they don’t have 50 million isk for the surrender fee.

When confronted with these truths, Fireborn still fails to be a good CEO and protect his corp. He outright refuses to surrender, even with the simple truth that from this point forward, it was cheaper to surrender.

but we will not lose our ISK and SP, so be cool, he is just loosing his timewith us.

Fire

News flash, your corp mates have lost both. But still, Fireborn remains docked, safe in his station, in Youl while I go about doing missions, training skills, making more and more isk.

Makes you wonder why they stay in this corp, doesn’t it?

So, I war dec’ed this corp. I tried talking to the CEO, his response? This email:

Hmm…he doesn’t speak english, eh? Well, the talk in local was clear enough and the comments seem clear to me.

So, the war begins. I am camped outside their HQ in an old Arbitrator. It’s an older ship for me, made my money on it already and I wanted to see how much of a blob they would throw out. As it would be, a decent blob. I did take some of them out, however, it was too much for my tech 1 tank. Here lies my old Arbi.

So, how did I fair? Well, while camping their HQ, Deamon Dweller undocked, locked me and fired. He lost both his ship and his pod. Next was the blob, however, Rabbit Serbia, the reason for the war, lost his Caracal again. He will come back into the fight in his Osprey, he’s on my Arbi kill mail. Prince Clansul lost his Omen and I had Sesshomaru Sama well into structure before my Arbi died.

So, some good fighting, some good loot. Sesshomaru was cool in the fight, even met me at a planet for a 1 on 1, however, some of his corp mates did not respect the 1 on 1, including the CEO.

Shortly afterwards, Fireborn, the CEO, convos me, asking for an end to the war. He says that I should end the war because Rabbit Serbia lost his ship and doesn’t have another. Hmm, he helped to pop my Arbi in an Osprey. Lies don’t rest well with me.

I later get this email from Fireborn:

We want peace with you.

Consider this mail a restraining order too. Sama will get you down if you come to him or any of our corpmates closer than 20km or near our HQ, until peace is made and war officialy closed. Our members will not attack you too.

So, emails in game serve as “restraining orders”? I’ve not heard that one before. At least their intentions are clear, they will not attack as long as I don’t. Well, it’s a war and until the surrender terms are met, the war will continue.

What are the terms? Well, it was simple originally. 50 million isk and Rabbit had to be kicked from his corp, he could rejoin in a month and he had to apologize in local and in a comment here for his foul words.

The CEO refused these terms. Now they are out 20 million isk in ships, plus repairs to armor and structure and implants lost by one of them. I made 8 million isk in the loot to boot. War dec paid for and then some.

So now, they are playing the permadock game or the logoffski game. You know, stay in the station all the time or logoff when they are in space before you can get in range. It’s the nature of fight, however, it did not work out for Prince Clansul. He saw me come through a stargate, locked weapons and fired. So much for Rakia Dwellers not fighting first. Figures that they would not keep their word. I was heading back to station to log for the night. Anyway, I return fire and he looses another Omen. During the fight, he logs off, so that when his ship popped, his pod auto warps away. Should I wait around and nail the pod too? Nah, he’s had a rough day already and I was logging for the night.

We will see what tomorrow brings. Maybe the CEO will come to his senses and surrender to save his corp mates.

So, yes, I am a merc from time to time. As it would be, when this person contacted me and asked that I destroy 2 cruisers for a nice chunk of isk, I was more than willing to oblige. Thus began the contract on a new corp, only a few days old. Rakia Dwellers was the target and I began with the usual, gather intel on who they are, what ships they fly, etc. Fortunately, most of this was provided by my employer. I guess they really ticked them off and really wanted to put some hurt on them. I began this contract like all others, I began to wait for them to come online. Cool name for a corp though. Is Rakia a place? Well, it could be a happy place you go to, Rakia is a drink.

Hmm….I wonder if they drink it. I would learn that their fighting skills would beg otherwise.

I spend a good portion of the morning online, flying around different systems. Got in a small engagement with some macro miners in Amarr. I was swapping out jet cans on macro miners and their enforcer shows up in, to my surprise, an Ishkur. Sweet, a same ship duel. Well, I thought it would be a same ship duel. He had 2 gun in stead of my 3, same drones, he had 2 instead of my 5. Oh well, it was fast, but it was cool.

As I am cleaning up the wreck, online comes some members of my target. Great, time to follow up on the location tip I have and see what I can find.

I head into Tash Murkon Prime and head right for the belts, hopeful that they are mining. As luck would have it, they have 2 barges and a Caracal in the first belt. I swap the jet cans and the Caracal locks and fires. As he does, 1 barge warps out and another Caracal warps in. I warp out and get bigger guns, 2 cruisers on my assault ship may not work to my favor as well as that barge pilot coming back in something more suited for battle.

As I warp back to the belt with my Pilgrim, the scanner shows that 3 cruisers are waiting for me. That means it’s time for some fun.

I land in the belt and 3 cruisers lock me and start firing. I let loose my drones, hit the nos and warp scramblers on the two Caracals. One and then the other go pop. As I move towards the mining barge that has now targeted me, the Celestis explodes. As the barge warps out, back come the two Caracal pilots in the famous, “Ibis of Doom” noobship. I decide to leave them alone, until they start to loot the wrecks. Nope, that’s my stuff I earned in battle, so I let both of them have it.

I collect my loot and return to a station. Yeah, it was a quick fight and they used some logical thinking in their tactics. Blob the target. Unfortunately for them, they did not plan to make the fight last. If one of them had fitted some remote repers of some sort, it would have been harder to complete the contract. As it was, I had 3 cruiser kills instead of the required 2. I contact my employer, send him the kill mails and receive the rest of my payment. They were pleased on the quick turn around on the contract, I may have some more work from them in the future.
I also receive a convo from the CEO of Rakia Dwellers. He’s asking why I am attacking them. I inform he that I had a contract to take out 2 cruisers and that I had finished my work. Needless to say, he was not happy but he was civil. Now, on to more exploring.

My character’s name is Ga’len.  My name is Riley and these are some of my character’s adventures.

Some history on my MMORPG gaming experience.  I started back when the Internet was not publicly used as it is used today. I started out playing a few games on BBS’s (Bulletin Board Systems) playing TradeWars 2002.  I grew into the MUDD scene when I obtained my first Internet access account through a dialup account and a FREEnet system called CAPaccess in Washington, DC.  MOTU or Masters of the Universe was a MUDD I played for about a year before I began to play more advanced games, such as Diablo and a few other ‘online’ games.

Fast forward to this decade.  I was looking for a new game and a friend suggested that I try out Star Wars Galaxies.  Needless to say, we are no longer friends.

I came to EVE purely by a chance suggestion from my wife.  I tried things for a bit and went back to SWG as I simply did not have the time to play MMORPG’s.  Then the Star Wars Galaxies debacle known as ‘The New Game Experience’ came along and killed that game.

I came back to EVE and promptly started a corporation for my SWG guild. Unfortunately World of Warcraft had a larger pull for my old Guild mates. So, after a brief encounter with a group of really cool players, I joined up with them. The Really Awesome Players (TRAPS) was a great home for several months, however, I was not used to the play-style that was required to be a truly contributory member of the corporation. It was with regret that I resigned myself from the corp.

I stayed in an NPC corp for a short time and decided that the only way I was going to get use to PvP was to form my own corporation again. This time, it’s not part of any guilds from any other MMORPG’s, it’s a new entity starting from scratch. I am also planning on not having any corp members, at least, for the next year.

Yup, just myself. Why you may ask? Well, pirating in an NPC corporation, as fun as that can be, does not allow me to declare war on another corporation or allow another corporation to declare war on me.

So, I created the Wandering Druid corporation and started my life as a one man corp, wandering about the universe.  I messed about for a while, ended up joining up with a pirate corp for gang fun, they petered out, did my one man corp again and one afternoon, I was recruited by the Neo Spartans, flew with them for over a year, helped the form their alliance and what not.  After being a pirate for almost 2 years, I wanted to do something different.  A very nice gentleman named Thorvik in game kept bugging me to come and fly with him in Ushra’Khan.  He thought I would find a lot of fun role playing and flying with one of the oldest alliances in the game.  Thankfully he was right and for a time I flew with them, thinking that I would stick around until they reclaimed Unity Station in 9UY4-H.  That seemed to happen much quicker than planned.  That coupled with my desire to be more of a roaming pilot that engaged in space holding warfare led me back to my piracy roots.  HellFleet is my current home.

So, as I am trying to contact this person to get them to apologize for their acts of cowardly theft, I see another person come in and hit another one of my wrecks. Wow, people must love to steal from me.

I follow this fella around, trying to lock him down and the aggro timer expires. Nutz, I have to head to work soon. So, I head back to one of the belts that had his wrecks in it and loot from it. Yeah, I steal from wrecks too, but I at least stick around for the fight.

I scan him down and warp into te belt. He’s there, I hit the afterburner and charge at him. He locks me and fires. Sweet, a fight between two assault ships. This should be good.

For the next 10 minutes, we orbit each other, he in his Jaguar, me in my Ishkur. Around and around, firing on each other, nosing each other. My drones firing away. We both go into armor, we both go into structure. The only thing that is helping me is my damage control and my armor rep. We are both at 10 percent structure and they, BOOM, he’s in his pod.

I have to say, skydvejam put up one hell of a fight. I personally think is was the luck of the wrecking shot that won that battle. I have to tip my hat to him, it’s why I play EVE, for the great fights. We exchange good fights and some friendly chat in local and then we both log.

So, what to do about that guy in the Coercer?

So, I end up tracking this guy down and he stays perma-docked. Go figure. One of his corp mates undocks and let’s loose a jet can. It has the stuff he stole. In local, they apologize for the incident and offer up the loot he stole to make peace. Part of me says to not take the loot, it’s a trap, but I don’t listen to my inner voice. I should have, it was a trap. I get blobbed and I end up loosing the fight, but not before inflicting enough damage that 8 of them warp away. Too bad, they didn’t make it on the killmail, however, I was not able to warp away in time, so, pop goes my Thorax. At least they left my drones in space alone, I was able to recover those.

So, feeling down a bit, I return to NPC ratting in the belts What happens, more loot thieves show up. I am a bit miffed and I want to kill some stuff, but they all log before I can get them. So, what happens next, a war dec of course. It’s a corp called IGHN.

So, who was the offender this time? A pilot names Vanquished. It’s a cool name, too bad that his attitude was not as cool. 4 noobs later, including a gang I was running NPC rat coverage while they were mining.

I war dec’ed this corp and I come to find out that one of my buddies, Bryg Philomena, has also war dec’ed this corp. So, we decide to work together. What do we get for our efforts, well, a nice kill.

So, over the next few days, the war rages on and I inflict several losses, 14 all on my own. The last kill I had was in a major fight.

I was in a blob attack from IGHN, 7 on 1, with Ceasar3 in a Prophecy this time. I am in my Curse, tanking damage from all 7 of these guys and I realize that I am holding, but barely. I will be loosing this ship in this fight, but I am not going down alone. Ceasar’s ship finally pops and shortly after, my Curse crushes under the onslaught.

This is why I play EVE Online, for the awesome battles that you can get into. Yeah, I lost a ship. That happens. Always assume that when you undock, you will loose that ship. I have spares for what I lost, but it was a lot of fun.

IGHN agreed to kick Vanquished from their corp as part of the mutual agreement to end the war. I gave Ceasar3 a spare Prophecy I had and he gave me back all the modules that survived from my Curse.

Funny how wars end up making new friends. Respect for a great set of fights. Well, on to the next system…

Anyway, you all know where this leads, another war. This time, Lord Deus Ex corp. Why you may ask. Put simply, Lord Deus himself. He made it a point to follow me around Task-Murkon Prime for 2 days and continued to take my loot, target me, bump my ship around. I gave him plenty of chances to make good on his offenses but to no avail.

So, day one of the war, I go hunting for targets and happen upon one, alone, in a mining barge in a belt. SR 65 is mining happily away in Pimebeka. I scan out which belt and warp in. Damn, I am 50 km from him, he’s gonna warp out of there before I can get in warp scrambling range. I try to close the distance. 40km, 30km, 25km…I lock him, warp scramble and send in the drones, pop. I attmept to lock the pod. I am in my Vexor, it takes a good amount of time to lock the pod and all the while, he just sits there. Too bad for him, crack goes the egg.

Well, that was too easy. There is no way I would be able to do that again, or maybe. I check the scanner and what do I see, Lord Deus. I again, scan out which belt, warp in and close the distance. Locked, warp scrambled and dones released….boom goes his mining barge. So, can I get a pod a second time….hmmm…locking…..locked, warp scrambled….crack.

So, now I have popped two mining barges, two pods and still no reaction in local, email or even a convo request. These people were mining afk during an active war dec? I won’t ask what they were thinking, it’s obvious that they are not thinking at all.

So, this corp that was flying cruisers around stealing loot has no intention of fighting back? I wonder this for a few hours and then finally I get a convo request from Lord Deus. He’s talking smack, about how he’s going to pop me good, how I am a “noob with no skills, no honor for popping a mining barge”. Uhm, that’s the point of a war, attack targets and inflict damage. Sooner or later, things will result in enough losses for a surrender.

So, as I am cruising around, in warps a Harbinger battle cruiser. Whoa, they have something to fight with after all. A Harbinger, an Omen and a frigate from one of the other corp members whose not shown his face against me and my Vexor. I figure that I need something better, so I retreat and get my Pilgrim.

After an hour of cat and mouse chasing around Task-Murkon Prime , I finally lock down the Harbinger outside m1 Kal station. We exchange blows and in warps Lord Deus in his Omen. I press on SR65 and his Harbinger with Lord Deus closing. Just as Lord Deus gets into warp scramble range, disaster befalls SR65. He promptly docks in the station with his pod and I turn about towards Lord Deus. Just as I lock Lord Deus, he fires on me and then heads to dock in the station. I guess he doesn’t know that you can’t dock in a station when you are firing on someone. Too bad for him, it’s over soon after that and he docks to save hid pod too.

The next day, I see that the corp member count has gone from 15 to 2. SR65 and Lord Deus are the only one’s that are left. Wow, I must have really scared these guys. Most of them did undock the night before to see their CEO loose his second ship as well as their “fighter” learn that he was not the “Harbinger of Doom”.

I try to convo Lord Deus and he refuses the convo invite. I email him with a surrender offer, he can end the war for 25 million isk. As I wait for a response, SR65 convos me to let me know he has left the corp and that Lord Deus is disbanding the corp. I do a show info on SR65 and it’s true, he left. I give him props for coming out and fighting the battle the night before.

So, I have broken up a corp? Wow, I had better not let this go to my head. 15 man corp reduced to just the CEO. So, what would top this? Well, I warp to the next system to relax a bit doing a mission or two and what do I see on the scanner? Lord Deus in a belt, yet again.

No, this is too good to be true. Yet again, I warp in and close the distance. Pop, he’s lost his third mining barge. This time, hid pod warps out as he smack talks in local. I don’t bother to respond to smack talk normally and this time, I just simply say “Well, after 3 mining barges and an Omen, I guess smack talk is all you have left, eh”? He logs off.

So, that was an interesting war, I inflicted some damage, survived the retaliation attack as well as destroy those forces and ultimately break up the corp of smack talking, loot theives. With the 65 million in loot from their ships, this war was really nice on the bank for me.

Over the course of the past month, I have been very successful in pirating, mainly in swapping loot cans on people. Unlike oMAKO, I have not attacked anyone younger than 4 months old. You’ve got to have standards and of course, anyone stealing loot from noobs becomes an immediate target for me.

So, when I heard about a fella named, and I kid you not, phadunkadunk2000, was stealing from noobs in Pimebeka, I had to seize the opportunity. I tried to engage him a number of times and he always warped out before I could get to him. So, it was time to see if I could stir the pot so to speak.

War dec number two, Deep Space Construction. I am not going to go into a blow by blow here, I did some damage here as well, including nail “phad” himself. So, a mining barge, a hauler and 2 frigates later, they surrendered. The fee this time, a mere 10 million isk and “phad” apologizing to all the noobs he stole from. I must admit here, I didn’t think he would do it, but he did. He even started running NPC rat coverage for other miners. Nothing like a war dec and getting your ship popped to adjust your attitude.

This is an act of piracy and by itself is not such a bad thing. You take loot or ore, swap the can, and hope that the person will either take the loot can back or attack you. Again, this is not a bad thing, however, to do this to people less than a week old just does not sit well with me. So, I decide to intervene after I take care of my mission loot.

I find oMAKo and try to get him to take loot cans from me. Apparently I am too old for him to play this game, he docks and logs off. I decide to take it up a notch and email the CEO of his corp and see if I can get some help for these poor noobs.

The next day, I am ratting in the belts and lo and behold, there is oMAKo and this time, he is flashing red to me. He’s stolen some of my loot. I chase him down and engage, however, he has warp core stabs fitted and escapes.

His CEO refuses the convo invites I send him, emails are not being responded to and this guy keeps messing with noobs as well as little ole me. This is where I decide to war dec his corp.

The war lasts only a few days, but I do some nice damage.

My first kill was worth the 2 million isk fee for a war dec, poor oMAKo, I caught him mining in a belt. Not a great fight, too easy of a kill, but it serves him right. Revenge for my stolen loot and the noobs of Task-Murkon Prime.

His buddy Crusher Joe decides to start talking smack and calls for their corp mates to rally and attack me. I manage to hold them off with my Drake and a nice set of ranged hits. One of the corp mates, nl3jackal, decides to charge me with his Vexor. No luck there. Crusher Joe got lived up to his name not once, but twice. Jackson Pratt comes out of their station, smack talking, locks and fires. I return the favor nicely.

After this disaster for KG, they decide to finally investigate and understand why they are under attack. I enlighten Jackson Pratt as to what the issue at hand is for me. Needless to say, his smack talking stops and oMAKo is put on the spot. We end up in a three way convo and oMAKo is told that he will be kicked from the corp if this happens again. Jackson informs me that the CEO has not been online for weeks and that he would like to discuss surrender to end the war. I tell him that 15 million isk would satisfy me for my loot losses and he agrees.

So, I successfully executed my first war dec in my one man corp. I fought some people, destroyed some ships, didn’t loose anything except ammo and got a surrender fee to boot.
