It’s been a busy week in real life and in game. Where do I begin? Work and real life have kept me out of game more than I would like, however, I have had time to finally start using some of the advanced features in Google Reader effectively, such as the public tag sharing features. On the right hand side of the page you may see the What’s Going on Now Widget. It’s an announcement ticker and I’ve been linking some items in there, such at the latest blog banter public page, ad for The EVE Online Portal (http://www.eve-bloggers.com) and what not.
I’ve also added a sidebar widget for general stuff I share out of Google Reader for things I think are worth sharing and no, it’s not all EVE related. You can follow it at My Shared Google Reader Items.
Here’s what was on the plate for this week:
- On Tuesday we had the 13th edition of the EVE Blog Banter go live, you can read it all here: EVE Blog Banter 13.
- CVA was disbanded, you can read about it on the EVE forums about what happened: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1205265 however, CVA was also put back together by CCP, they state that the account was hacked by isk sellers. You can read the formal announcement: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1205170&page=4#103
- There was a lot of chatter within the EVE Blogging community concerning “CVA-Gate”, you can find it all on this nice collection of posts, Google shared items FTW! CVA Gate
- Mynxee (Life in Lowsec) has made a proposal to fix the Alliance Disband mechanic, read here thread on the EVE forums and sign it for support, [Proposal] Require 24 Hour Vote to Disband Alliance
- I missed out on a great discussion on in the EVE-Bloggers in game channel but apparently the discussion continued in the EVE blog community, PVP Opt Out discussion.
See you out there!!

Thanks for the link to my "fix the alliance disbanding mechanic" proposal (and for your support of it in the thread). You're using some neat features here, I'm going to have to explore these more fully.

I am using Google Reader, using the share option on a post. I also add a tag, such as CVAClose. I then go into the subscription management section in Google Reader and share that tag. You can then get a url to the shared items page for just that tag. The widget on the top of my sidebar is the Notices plugin for Wordpress (http://www.sterling-adventures.co.uk/blog/2008/06... It's lets you share a url and set the duration that it runs, say for 7 days.
I also use the shared item widget that you can get from a shared tag in Google Reader for the other sidebar widget My Shared Google Items.
So, when I am laying in bed, reading news feeds on my iPod Touch, I share an item and add the correct tag and the items shows up in that shared link automatically. Once it's setup, it makes things very easy to add content. That and the new WordPress 2 app for the iPhone/iPod Touch. I don't have to use my laptop to update my blog for most items.

LOLS glad to hear i'm not the only person who lies in bed with iTouch in hand!

Yeah, I use Feeds read everything and it syncs with Google Reader, make it real easy to keep up. I can read an article, start it to work with it later and do the sharing and tagging I mentioned.
I also use the Kindle app from Amazon, love to read eBooks as they are cheaper and on the iPod Touch, they are always with me.

I love the Kindle app too and have quite a few Kindle books on my iTouch. Also got a ton of audio books…audible.com being another addiction.

I've tried the audio book thing. For some reason, the story doesn't stay with me. I also seem to fall asleep listening to them. I hate that, fall asleep and you have to start over again or try to figure out where you nodded off.
At least with a book, when you fall asleep reading, you don't really loose you spot.

Yeah, i listen to audio books when I'm commuting or walking. If I try that in bed, I'm asleep in minutes.
