Happy Holidays everyone!!!!

This month’s EVE Blog Banter idea comes to us by Roc Wieler of Roc’s Ramblings (http://everamblings.wordpress.com). Roc’s asks us to “write a story about a fellow EVE Blogger, or an EVE player whom has inspired you or affected you in some tangible way. After your story, describe why you chose them, and any Holiday wish you have specifically for them”.  The other Blog Banter articles are linked at the end of  my post.

INNOMINATE NIGHTMARE has to be one of the most memorable EVE players of all time.  What?  You have never heard of him?  Well….let’s hop into the way back machine here.  Back in 2006, I was reading the EVE forums and I came across a thread about a new blog on the Internet.  I began following his stories of his now inactive, the EVE Online 0.0 Experiment (http://00experiment.blogspot.com).   Here was someone who decided to just simply throw caution to the wind, create an alt and venture forth into 0.0 space with the only objective of living there.  No aspirations of becoming the ultimate PvP pilot nor holding any space.  He simply wanted to go forth and explore.

If you have not read this blog, you should stop right now, head over to the first entry (http://00experiment.blogspot.com/2006/07/eve-online-00-experiment-post-001.html) and begin to read his stories.  He had a lot of fun living in 0.0, met with a lot of people, ended up engaging in some PvP, started his own corp and around post 94, he just stopped.   There were many stories as to what happened to him.

His stories and attitude in his actions were the inspiration for me to leave my corp at the time, start my own corp and head out into a play style of being a pirate.  As his blog stopped being active in December of 2006, I felt a void from not seeing his next post.  I really wanted to see what would happen next and I realized that my creative juices were flowing.  So, in January of 2007, I took all the posts that never made it onto on EVE-Pirate and the stories about PvP I wrote and created this blog.  I simply enjoyed reading his stories and I thought others would enjoy reading about my adventures as well.  It was on that day that “The Wandering Druid of Tranquility” was born.

I know, this all sounds very corny and to be honest, it probably is corny but it had led me to this point.  I have created something that give me a lot of enjoyment and entertains people.  I have a character in EVE that I like playing, that can have a lot of fun.  I have made a lot of friends and I learned that going out to 0.0 or low security space, as dangerous as it can be, has rewards that many players simply are missing in the game play.

So, should we have a holiday for Innominate Nightmare?  Yes, I think we should.  He was an inspirational character in EVE history.  Perhaps a holiday on every July 28th where we all get into shuttles and head into 0.0 space, perhaps follow the same route he took.  A “0.0 Innominate Pilgrimage Day” into the deep space that he ventured into and never returned to remember the man who brought us so much fun.  At least there is an entry in the new EVELopedia (http://wiki.eveonline.com/wiki/INNOMINATE_NIGHTMARE).

Please do read these other fine posts on this month’s Blog Banter!!!
